Call Center Broker / BPO Summit Manila $ 2012

event poster business process outsource contact center customer service CRM philippines
Through the kindness of Ms. Ros Juan, Ms. Myra Sandico and Mr. Jayson Biadog, I was able to attend the morning session of Call Center Broker / BPO Summit Manila $ 2012.  This event was held last October 27, 2012 at the Tanghalang Pasigueño Main Theater at the Pasig City Hall (I took C-5 northbound from Makati to get here, turned right at Buting which is in between the twin overhead U-Turns and opposite Kalayaan Ave. from BGC). The venue was a little tricky to find since it's at the back of the City Hall main building, but it's an impressive structure that can host different events.

The local government rents out the auditorium (Asemblea Magna), a banquet hall (Pista ng Bayan), 2 mini-theatres/function rooms, a garden area (Halaman ni Mutya) and the main lobby. Other services offered include chairs, tables, stage / platform, misting fans and a bus or coaster for group transportation.
I arrived at around 7:30AM and secured good (shaded) parking near the entrance. When I left, the area was full with approximately 25 vehicles.  There's a bigger parking space adjacent to the building based on other blogs I read. I headed to the lobby to register (took less than 2 minutes) and see the booths on display.

The program started around 9:20AM with an invocation.

Here are some snapshots of the hosts and morning speakers:

Ms. Myra Sandico: "Filipinos are good in customer service, sales and marketing!"

Ms. Rebecca Hontiveros: "Relationship between investor and BPO is important - trust and respect."

Mr. Mike Blanco: "Leadership starts at home."

Mr. Mike Blanco: "Three little words: 'And them some.'"
"Go the extra mile for your people. It is our responsibility to develop our people"

Ms. Nelda Zulueta: "Capitalize on opportunities in new media."

I had to leave early to attend the GrantonWorld launch at Mercato Centrale in Bonifacio Global City. I hope to add to this post in the next few days.

1st Ateneo de Manila University Social Entrepreneurship Training for Trainers

If I were still MNL-based, I would have loved to take this course.  Here's the course description from Mr. Harvey Keh:

Social entrepreneurship is defined as an innovative solution to social problems using entrepreneurial skills. In the Philippines, there are social enterprises that have successfully attained this objective, thus helping raise the quality of life of the partner marginalized group and to some extent, doing good to the environment.

Globally, initiatives and endeavors promoting business and social development as a framework are growing and indeed, developing. In fact, top universities around the world such as Harvard University, Oxford University, and Stanford University are taking the lead in promoting and institutionalizing social entrepreneurship as a systemic classroom-based curriculum for individuals wanting to advance a social mission as social entrepreneurs.

Now, the Ateneo de Manila University-School of Government and the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia (ISEA) together with the Ateneo Center for Social Entrepreneurship are developing a social entrepreneurship program that is aimed at providing skills training to those interested to become social entrepreneurship trainers for their respective organizations.

In line with this, we are inviting your institution to send delegates to the
1st Social Entrepreneurship Trainer’s Training which will be held on October 18 to 29, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Mondays thru Fridays only) at the Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights campus. Program fee is P29, 000.00 covering the meals (lunch & snacks) and course materials of the participants. The main facilitator for this program is Prof. Marie Lisa Dacanay, ISEA Executive Director. Certificates of completion will be awarded to the participants upon completing the whole training program.

DISCOUNTS: An early bird discount of 10% will be given for those who register and complete their payment by 30 August 2010. A Group discount of 5% is also offered to groups of 3 or more registrants. Early bird groups will be given a total discount of 15%.
